Privacy Policy
Free WordPress Malware Scanner · effective 4 October 2026
Free WordPress Malware Scanner is a browser extension that scans a website you own for injected malware and outdated plugins. This policy states what it does with data. The short version: it collects nothing, and nothing it reads leaves your computer.
What the extension reads
When you start a scan, the extension reads the pages of the site you chose, the same way your browser would, including pages you can see because you are signed in. If you turn on the option to read your plugin list, it also reads that site’s plugin and theme list pages in WordPress’s admin area.
Where that data goes
| Your computer | All analysis runs inside the extension. Reports and a short-lived cache of downloaded script files are stored in your browser’s local storage. You can delete them at any time by removing the extension. |
| Your own site | The extension requests pages from the site you are scanning, and nowhere else on the web. |
| api.wordpress.org | To check whether your plugins and themes are up to date, the extension sends their public names and version numbers to WordPress.org’s public plugin directory. It sends no page content, no addresses of your pages, and nothing that identifies you. |
What the extension never does
- It has no account, no sign-up and no analytics.
- It does not collect, store or transmit cookies, passwords, session tokens or anything typed into forms.
- It does not sell, share or transfer any data, because it holds none beyond your own device.
- It does not change your site. It only reads pages and never submits forms.
Permissions
Access to a website is requested one site at a time, only when you start a scan of it, and you can revoke it from your browser’s extension settings.
This website
Everything above is about the extension, which collects nothing. This website, wpscanner.happycoders.in, is different in one respect: it uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read, so we can tell whether people find what they need.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and sends Google information such as the pages you view, how you arrived, your approximate location, and your device and browser type. Google processes this under its own privacy policy, at policies.google.com/privacy. We use it only for aggregate statistics, not for advertising, and we do not combine it with anything else to identify you.
You can turn analytics off for your browser at any time with , also in the footer of every page. Blocking cookies, using a content blocker, or Google’s opt-out add-on works too. The site works the same either way.
The site runs no advertising and loads its fonts from its own server. Like any website, our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, page requested and browser type, for security and operation.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date before the change takes effect.
